On March 7th, 2020 my husband and I purchase a 2020 From Explorer Limited from Sames Ford Dealership in Corpus Christi, TX.  This specific Explorer had 23 miles on it   We picked this vehicle after purchasing a 2020 Ford Raptor on February 17, 2020.

Here is our story....

My husband and I have been car shopping on and off for quite sometime.  I had a 2011 Nissan Armada.  Absolutely loved this car for 9 years.  Loved it.    Long story back and forth of a few different makes and models of cars my husband said he found a Ford Raptor that he wanted.  I looked into it.  The FIRST thing I notice is that the dealership has a 2.5 star review.  I told my husband to get what ever car he wanted but don't buy from there.   He did.
Then it was time to replace my car...  I can't recall if I took the time to knock on wood when I told my husband that it was going to be my car that has problems. I should have...
What a nightmare to purchase this 2020 Ford Explorer!!!!!   WORST PURCHASE EVER!!!!!

Behold--- the 2.5 star dealership!

So we have the new cars now and it's spring break... this is going to be so cool when break is done.  "I will be going to school drop off and pick up in a new whip and it's going to be great!" said every new car owner ever.

And it was.... great first few days.  Now I love being comfortable and knowing where all my bells and whistles are.  I like having a spot for my things.  Ya know what I mean.  With life so crazy I like having my go to things in their place.  My car is one of them.

5/17/2020 So the new car.  Breaking her in was confusing. I kept getting this pop up notification on the dash regarding my 4WD. I thought maybe it was normal.  Far from it.   I noticed that the mileage was around 10 -11mpg.  That is worse than the Armada's 16 mpg.  Then I noticed that the 4WD disabled notification would come up--- often.   Due to this pandemic there has not been much driving around.

Then on the morning of May 17, 2020,  I went to buy breakfast tacos at Jalesco's on Alameda.  I love them!   I was in the drive through for a long while.  Got our food then as soon as I hit the street the rpms went way high. I want to say  several notifications popped up.  Powertrain Malfunction and Reduced Power were along with the 4 WD messages as well.  I didn't know what was happening so i made my way to a side street and the service wrench came on.  We took out the manual and saw that we needed to bring the car to the dealer  I turned the car back on and hoped that I would make it home with little issues.   On the way home the gas pedal was sluggish and taking its sweet time responding to my foot pressing the pedal.

5/18/2020 I brought the car into Sames Ford dealership with 950 miles on it.  I explain what the car did and I also included the 4WD notification and the really low mpg.   I was not offered a loaner and at the time I was hoping this was a simple oops and we will get on with our lives.  I was wrong.  I WAS DEAD WRONG!!!   I was told that someone would call us by lunch tomorrow.  Ha Ha Ha...
5/19/2020 I called at 1:36pm because no one had called us.  I do have to work so I need my car.
5/20/2020 No word from Ford dealership. They don't care I had to cancel 3 jobs.  Now they are costing me money!
5/21/2020 No word from Ford dealership. I had my husband Mike call.
5/22/2020 No word from Ford Dealership. Big surprise! Its hard holding that 2.5 star review!  I called again, and due to someone being cool now I will not mention names here.  The receptionist who answered put me on hold so I can talk to the person in charge of our Explorer.  She came back on and apologized for the wait.  I explained to her that I was not happy.  Then I asked her if she was aware that they have 2 start rating.  No she was not aware.  I explained that when you tell someone when you're going to call them back, you call them back.  If you know you're busy you tell me it will be 3-4- 5 days.  I told them that  they could keep the car for 3 weeks, just let me know. I also let this person know that the dealership has a 2.5 star rating.  He was unaware too.   I had to request a rental as again I was not offered one.  I was told the rental would be ready--- it wasn't.   It was supposed to be something comparable---It wasn't.  I didn't care at this time. So we took it.

6/2/2020 I received a text that the vehicle was ready.
I was told that they couldn't get the codes and they couldn't duplicate the notifications.
The accelerator pedal was replaced.
I left the lot and 1 mile before our house the service wrench light came on along with the 4WD notifications.
Called the Sames Dealership Service Department.  I sent a video of the car doing the same thing in regards to the 4WD notifications.  At this point the service wrench did not come on and I suggested we wait till I can get it to do it again.
6/4/2020 I happened to stubble on the fact that this Explorer was only giving me notifications while making left hand turns only.  The Explorer stalls while we were were making a left u-turn.  See video  Service wrench light pops up as well.  I get the car to start again and I call the dealer.  We agree to pull the codes before we shut off the engine.  I get to Sames Ford dealership and the server is DOWN.  They can't pull the codes. I suggest that I bring the car back on the following Monday.
6/8/2020 I bring the Explorer in.   I was told a rental would be ready---It wasn't. I also explained that we had a big trip coming up and that we needed a vehicle that is comparable,  They tried to give me the fusion again.  Long story short, I refused it and I had to be taken to my house by Enterprise and I would later get an Expedition delivered to the house.   It was delivered between 5-6PM that evening.
6/9/2020 I receive a text from the Service Department at Sames along with a photo.

This is WireHarness TBS

I was told the wire harness was rubbing against the a/c compressor causing intermittent problems.

There is a big gouge.

It was repaired by soldering and rewrapping the wires and then using a factory zip tie to keep it off the compressor.

6/10/2020 I pick up the Explorer and drop off the rental.  The person looking over our repairs explained how the first mechanic is no longer with Ford and that he doesn't think that he really put the effort into finding the issues.  Especially after I got the codes to duplicate shortly after leaving the dealership the last time.
6/13/2020 A coffee alert popped up after 10-15 minutes of driving.  What???? random???   Later on the car does this  several times... but never on our long haul trips.  Another fun-filled Ford sensor!
6/14/2020 I notice that the mpg got better we are now at 16-17-18mpg. Also I see the USB doesn't always connect to the phone on the touch screen.
6/15/2020 We depart for NY.
6/18/2020 The rear camera while in reverse starts to sporadically stop working. The left side will be all blue and the right screen will show blue from the number out.  see photo

6/25/2020 While leaving my parents driveway on a level and gravel driveway. I was getting ready to leave and I released the emergency break and put the car in reverse. The car was slowly backing up and my foot was hovering over the break.  The car came to a complete halt and I skidded in the driveway.  My father looked at me as if I was driving crazy... I put the car in park and decided at this point to just start over and see what happens.  It was fine.

6/25/2020  A horrible day for our entire family.  My mother passes away.  (It rained for 7 days straight)  The rain... keep that in mind... It rained a lot!

7/1/2020 My brother in law looks under the hood of the car and sees that the coolant is registering under the minimum marking not he reservoir.  This concerns me as we have to make it back to TX soon.
7/14/2020 I need to get my car looked at before I drive with my kids in this possessed car. Address the issues and get an oil change.  I do not feel safe in this  thing and I do not trust it.  I call several dealers in the area and I was disappointed one after another till I got a hold of a great guy at Simmons Rockwell in Hallstead, PA.  He made me no promises but told me to bring the car in and he will get it in and do his best to get it done.
I asked for an oil change, tires rotated, the drivers seat is not properly secured and the coolant needed to be looked at. This car needs to be safe for my kids to make it home.
I notice the steering wheel is not heating up all the time!
7/15/2020 The washer fluid light came on so I opened the hood and tried to put more in.  The reservoir only took about a cup of fluid.  The light went off.  I take the Explorer to Simmons Rockwell. During this ride I really notice the driver seat loose and the steering wheel did not warm  up at all during this ride.  This dealership really took care of me.  I got there in and out within 2.5 hours.  I was expecting an all day event.  The driver seat was in fact loose. The coolant was not leaking and a pressure test was done. Tires were rotated and oil change performed. Dealership said it was good to go to make it back to TX.  I get back to my sisters house and the washer fluid light comes on again.  I put a about another cup of fluid in and that's all the reservoir would take again.
7/16/2020 The touch screen freezes.  It does not repair itself after stopping and restarting the car.  See Video
7/22/2020 Trip from NY to NJ was the beginning of the worst.  It rained. It rained the whole trip. This is where we really noticed the transmission.  The response of the accelerator was very slow.  This proposed a problem.  NJ stop and go traffic and a slow accelerator did not fathom well.  I put the car in sport mode and it improved slightly.  Later that evening the rain came pouring and we needed to get in the car to make it back to my friends beach house. We got into the car and trying to back out with zero visibility due to rain, the camera system also decided to not work at all.  Hello blue screen again.
7/23/2020 Again during this ride we had some rain. Dealing with the USB not connecting to the phone and stopping navigation. The transmission had its now normal issues changing gears.  Now I am not the only one having this issue.  See attached article
It feels like its running in the reduced power mode.
7/25/2020 I call this the Knoxville situation.  Again we are in rain. The transmission again is performing poorly.  It runs at high rpms and low rpms.  Then right at a hard down pour the lights go off on the dash.  Powertrain, anti collision, abs breaks and 4wd and that awesome wrench service light I have gotten so familiar with.   See Video.
We had just passed Knoxville and that would be the closest dealership for us.  So we back tracked and header to the dealership in Knoxville.  I caller prior to getting there and said that I just need the codes pulled before I shut off the engine. At this point I am now scared of this car.  I have no idea if we will be protected driving this vehicle.  Are my breaks not going to work... Anti-Collision??? What ever that means... I have kids in my car.  Great dealership. They got the codes. I was very happy. They also were able to tell me what I needed and one was a sensor.  I was urged to stay for at least 4 night till they get the part in. They suggested that I wait to get back on the road.  I decided to call it a day and get a hotel and assess the situation.
I have an uncle who works as a mechanic for NYPD.  My father passed along the codes to him and he was able to explain that these are sensor codes. That my breaks are not going to give out on me and that we will make it back to TX with these codes showing.
Ford owes me for having to back track my trip and needing to get a hotel.  This car is not safe!  My hands start to hurt from white knuckling through this drive home.
7/27/2020 Through the rest of the ride back to TX we stopped often having to shut off the car to try to get the touch screen to work with my phone.  I also stayed in sport mode to try to get the care to respond faster.  It slightly helped.
ICING ON THE CAKE!!!  We finally make it home after  5 days of white knuckle driving.    My husband helps unload the car and discovers a leak in the rear.  Keep in mind that I loaded the car in the back so we wouldn't have to go in and out the back while we were driving from NY to NJ, MD and TX.  The suitcase was soaked on one whole side.  Thank God that it wasn't the side that had my mothers photos in it.  The water was on the floor of the back hatch as well.   Great sized leak.
7/28/2020  I dropped car off at Same's Dealership. Got a rental. Get this.... I drop the car off with 7,595 miles on it.  Keep that in mind. We went over all the issues with this car.  I said I am not safe in it and that I am scared of it.  Which is straight up true.
8/6/2020  Ford Care called me back as I left a message the day before.  We have been denied a buy back. And here's the reason why.
*the state guidelines pertaining to days out of service and/or repairs made for the primary non-conformity have not been satisfied.
Oh and we got a sorry for the inconvenience.  I was also told that I could take my issue to the BBB.
8/10/2020 Ford care called to follow up on the service to my car. I let them know that I did receive a call from ford updating me on repairs and that the camera was already replaced. They couldn't duplicate the error codes and that there was a TSB leak in the rear hatch.  Also the break had an issue and it had to be recalibrated to fix the sudden breaking in reverse.  I asked about the transmission. I was told that they could not duplicate the same issue.  I said that it is pretty hard to make happen if you only drove it 7 miles.  They reading on our car's mileage was 7,602. I was passed onto another manager.  I was told that they would look at it again. The manager said he would be more than happy to put 30-40 miles on it and that they would look into getting me into trading the Explorer in.  ( I have not heard back from him.  I should start name dropping.  Ford employees are not people of their word).
8/18/2020 I receive a call from Ford Care. I was informed that the dealership received the camera. I explain that the Ford dealer called and that I was told that part had already been installed previously. So what part came in? I was told that we are waiting for the speed sensor to come in.  There is some wrong information being passed between the dealership and Ford Care
I later get a text from the dealer saying the Explorer is ready for pick up.  I get a call back from Ford Care and was told that the part we are waiting on is called a ring.  Its a sensor.
I then get a call from the ford Dealer that the car is done but we are waiting on the speed sensor to come in and that the car will have to be brought back in.
We pick up the Explorer.  I am impressed with the car ride home. The gas pedal seems to be responsive.  I do notice that the driver seat is still shifting and my phone will not connect to the touch screen.
Ohhhh yeah   when we picked up the Explorer, I got into a car that the heat was left on high blast.  Earning those 2.5 stars!!!
I contact a legal service regarding Ford Cares decision to deny a buy back.
We pick up the car with 7,643 miles on it.
8/19/2020 Today I was prescribed some meds for my hands hurting so bad.  I swear holding that steering wheel so hard has jacked up my two thumbs and one index finger.  Dr thinks so too!   Thank you Ford!
8/25/2020 Today Ford Care is supposed to call to follow up.   After getting all of my notes together and into this post, I've realized that the sensor issues seem to always happen when its raining.  It's a hunch but I think I am right!
Also today I design and layout my plan to let the public know about this awful experience!  Stay Tuned!!!
I should hear from the law firm regarding our situation regarding the Explorer.  And we did. They think we have a case.
9/3/2020Ford Care calls to see if an apt was set up for our vehicle for the new sensor.  It was not. I was told someone will call me to set it up.  No one called me and I have a very busy plate.  Not my job to follow up someone else plate at this point.
9/8/2020Ford Care called to see if an apt was set up.  I said no one called me. I mean like really I should not have to call if I was told I would be contacted.  My dog just died... my vacuum, my husband's mini fridge and our dishwasher.  It's not my job to get you to perform the job you say you are going to do.  Can you tell I just don't give a crap at this point.  Ford had failed in every area that they could.
9/8/2020 Ford Dealer calls and we set up an apt to get this ring or speed sensor replaced.  I was told that we can do  up another buy back request. So I said yes.  Lets do it.
9/10/2020Ford Care called left me a voice mail.  I dropped off the Explorer and I let Ford know that the windshield fluid sensor light was coming on and off. Not really knowing if its full or not.  The light comes on and off.    Also the drivers seat is still shifting while I drive.   We got a F150 for the rental.
9/11/2020 I called Ford Care left message
9/11/2020 Ford Care called I missed it again!!! Crap!
9/11/2020 Supposedly our car is ready again.... Gonna go pick her up and see what we got!  I think I am going to go with video updates at this point.   I hate writing and I am not good at it!!!
I need some time to address the list of issues with this car and test them out.  However I can say that the drives seat is extremely shifty.  We need to get someone in there that weighs the same as me.  I also need to get into another Ford Explorer and sit in the seat.
9/14/2020  Here is the icing on the cake!  I called Ford Care back this morning and I got through to the rep right away.   I  was asked how the repairs were and if there were any other problems with the car.   I said I have not really been able to have time and that I would take this week to look at the car.  I also said explained when I dropped it off the windshield fluid issue and the driver seat issue.  The seat still shifts....   We decided to touch base next week regarding the repairs and then I asked where we are at with the second buy back- and she said that the second buy back was not put in. I was shocked... well kinda.  I mean after all Ford is going to cover Ford's rear end!  Not mine!   I was just floored that after all this our discussion of doing a second buy back was just swept under the carpet.  They are trying hard to just repair this car and make me eat their lemon!   I don't think so.    Between the Dealership and Ford care they think they are just going to repair and send this car back and avoid what has been done collectively for a brand new car.... Not today, not after the 2020 I have had.
9/10/2020  Dropped off Explorer again. After confusion between Ford Care and Ford Service Department- I was told that the Ring Sensor would be replaced.  We were given a Ford 150 for a rental.
9/11/2020  Picked up the Explorer.
9/23/2020 Ford Care has denied our second buy back..... OMG  how can they be doing this????  How is this even right????? Who makes this decision??????   I have put in countless hours into this vehicle for issues, repairs and straight up anxiety. This is not a NEW CAR EXPERIENCE!!!  It was denied for the same reason as before....  all three times.
9/29/2020 I called Sam's Service Department to make an apt. We spoke about the issues. I needed to stop at the service dept so they could get photos of the rear windshield. The grids are falling off and some residue is along all the  lines that are still on the window.  I also showed the chrome paint the has chipped off of the driver side window button.   Last item on this list was again, the driver seat.  It is still loose and has not been repaired since our trip to Hallstead, PA.  Three reports have been made and only one repair which was done but a different service department. The glass needed to be ordered and could take a few days.  I was told that I would get a call to hopefully bring the car in on that Friday but it might be Monday pending on the delivery.  I was told I would be called.  Wont hold my breath.
10/8/2020  I am updating this today and still no call from Same's Ford Service Department.   This is by far the worst experience we ever paid full price for.  Thanks Ford... even you wont buy it back.

Below are some of the videos showing what the Explorer has been doing. I'll add more. I have a bunch.

10/14/2020   I see this today.   The seat is not attached to the frame correctly.  Even after pushing the clamp back on, it still is very visible.  The dealer said that this is for the airbags to come out.   Ok   you can still see it though.

UPDATE 12/09/2020

11/09/2020 Today I sent a certified letter to Ford Motor Company giving them 30 days to respond.  I will attach it in this blog.
11/23/2020 Today i dropped off the lemon and this time they are looking at the shifty driver seat, the touchscreen and the whiny noise the accelerator pedal makes.
11/25/2020 Today Ford Care has called and I now am getting a new rear differential replaced.  No mention of the driver seat or the touchscreen.
12/08/2020 Just got off the phone with Ford Care.  I was informed that the rear differential is in but the dealer is waiting for the bolts.   I then asked about the driver seat, and the woman apologized and said that she completely forgot about it.   Yeah I wonder what else they have forgotten about.   I am not comfortable with the service I am receiving at all. I will say that Chevy Equinox I received from the rental company was amazing.  The transmission was a pleasure to experience.   Now I have an Expedition for a rental...

12/10/2020 Just got a call back from Ford Care.  Big surprise. Still waiting on parts. But   get this.... I was told that the drivers seat that shifts while moving, that  it only moves when you push it.  I said that that is not true.  It shifts while I am driving and making turns. I said let me guess, "they can't duplicate the problem"?   That is the standard response.    I said that the transmission specialist and the man overseeing my vehicle repairs also acknowledged the issue.  So they are going to go back to their repair team and talk about it.  This Ford Care advocate has disregarded issues to where I have to keep bringing them up.  It's a lot to do when this is their job.    I was told back in  October they would put in my 4th buy back....  I had to demand it this time.  I can't tell you how piss poor of a job Ford is doing.  We are still waiting for the parts to come in for the rear differential to be replaced.

I'm catching onto you FORD!  I know what you're doing to us LEMON owners!
I noticed today that the dates had my vehicle serviced to not match the dates that it was actually there.  Good thing I have the Enterprise receipts to cross reference.  Plus the many many photos  and videos I took.

12/11/2020 Received a call form Regional.  I avoided the call not knowing who it was to dodge any bad news.   Wonder what regional needs to say to me.   I called back and left a message.

12/13/2020 My husband went to pick up the beast!  He refused it because the paperwork was not correct.

12/14/2020 I ran a NMVTIS report...  It shows 0 recalls for our 2020 Explorer.   Hummmmmm   That's funny.   Wonder what else I stumbled upon---- There is also 0 work history reports made on our vehicle as well.   An investigator has now been assigned to our case.  Good thing I printed all of these things out!

12/14/2020 My husband went to pick up our Explorer.  The paperwork did nor reflect what actually happened.   We refused to pick it up.  We were called back in and we were forced to pick up the car.  If we didn't, Enterprise was going to charge us for the rental.    We were forced to accept the false paperwork.

12/17/2020 I was so irate with Ford and the situation regarding our car.  So I have 3 Ford employees admitting and acknowledging that there is an issue with the driver's seat.  on I have recorded.  Yet our paperwork says no issue found.  I was told that a manager was going to get with us and no that didn't happen at all.  They are not of their word.  So I vented on a social media moms group.   Turns out that a woman was out on maternity leave that works at the dealership where we got our vehicles.  She screen shot my post and took it to the GSM.  He didn't call me--- he called my husband--- at work.  HAHAHA  too funny!  Go tell on me to my husband... yeah I don't think so! He and I are on the same team.  I love it when men think they can get together and try to come at the woman... No this time.  My husband knows we are in the right here.   But none the less, the two decided to have a sit down meeting with us three and see what we can do.

12/17/2020 I am driving and I decide to wash the rear window..... watch this video...... oh and here is the screen shot from the mom group.
Picture
12/18/2020 Today was the meeting with  the GSM. We had a long discussion and was apologized to and with that cam their solution to getting us out of the car.   Wait for it.. wait for it.   We were given the option of two different vehicles.  Both of which would cost us a lot more money.  A Ford Edge. or a Ford Expedition.    How is this a solution.   Nope all it was a butt kissing moment, attached with an apology.  But here--- our solution is to get more out of you.     We told them we would think about it.
We did and I said no way!

I told my husband that the solution was no going to cost us a penny more.  I promised it and I meant it.  These people... both the Ford dealership, sales and maintenance- plus the manufacturer need to do something about this....   what a joke this is    8 months of repairs and I haven't even had this car a year....   I AM SOOOOO DONE!!!!   From crap service, to faulty paperwork and salesmen solutions of us spending more.... LOL

1/5/2021 I have taken the explorer to the specialist and was dropped off.  There was a terrible communication issue.  I really despise being told that you'll call me at a certain time and just don't.  Anyway... I was told to come get the vehicle.  I would not be getting a rental.
The rear washer fluid was reattached.
the USB to apple play will charge a phone but no connect to the touch screen  (sometimes)  I get the usual cannot  verify customer concerns at this time.

The transmission needs a main control valve body replaced....  I told you that thing was sick....
Harsh shifts
Incorrect up and down shifting
Shift flares
Banging or knocking sounds
Gear slippage

I have all of these!!!!    Yet when I first brought the vehicle in--- LOL No one could duplicate the issue....  Now that I know the service department is not to be diagnosing transmission issues----- the specialist twice so far has verified that I am not crazy and that there is in face something wrong.

Anyway---- The parts needed are on backorder and should be in on the 18th...  Wonder if anyone will actually call us.   Highly doubtful.

Also the driver seat is still loose and still shifts on harder right or let turns.  AFTER # FORD EMPPLOYEES VERRIFIED THERE IS A PROBLEM----guess what my paper work says.... just guess!!!!!     Could not verify customers complaint at this time.  no repairs made at this time.      BUNCH OF LIARS!

So after explaining that we do not agree with the paperwork we were told that "K" would call us by noon the next day.

Just when you think this car can't get any worse.... sorry for the poor quality....
1/13/2021 So here is your update and still today we have not heard from the dealership....   My husband says no to more decals on the rear window.... I say let's do it!!!!!  Let me see what I can come up with!
